Ulla Hahn House

Writer Ulla Hahn grew up in the brick house at number 2 Neustrasse in Monheim. In 2009, the City acquired the building and created a literature center for children, young people and adults. The love of literature really comes to life here. The friendly atmosphere of the red-brick house invites people to come together, interact and experience literature.

Literary events for everyone

Diversity plays a key role here – the doors are open to everyone. Children, young people and adults of all backgrounds are welcome to join in and take an active part. The creative events are often multi-disciplinary and have their finger on the pulse of the times when it comes to digital media. Readings, workshops and courses arouse curiosity about books and foster people’s personal literary creativity – not only at the building on Neustrasse, by the way, but in many other places in and around the city.

The main focus is literary education for children and young people, with the team cooperating closely with the local education network and passing on knowledge through a wide range of training programs.
