Exhibition MonHeimat at the pop-up store "mittendrin"

Dates, topics and opening hours

Artists Julia Fleckenstein and Alexandra Rehling bring the space to life for the final time. The pop-up store will be used as an exhibition space one last time before the property on Dolleck closes its doors for good.

From March 13 to 30, art will once again move into the pop-up store “mittendrin” in the heart of Monheim am Rhein - as a final event before this place on the Dolleck closes for good. The exhibition is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and also on Sundays in good weather. The works are not only there to be admired, but can also be purchased.

Under the title “MonHeimat”, Monheim artists Julia Fleckenstein and Alexandra Rehling present selected original works. The exhibited pictures are intended to encourage people to reflect on the term “home”: What does home mean to you? Is it the utopia of childhood, the feeling of belonging or holding on to the familiar? Why is the term “home” often misused for exclusion? Is there a home without borders? Where does the need to create a home come from and why is it often linked to a geographical location? Or do we perhaps also find stability in an inner order, independent of physical locations?

Get creative!

Surrounded by these paintings and drawings, a protected space is created that invites people to come together in the middle of the city. An opportunity to reflect on your own concept of home and to talk about your own experience of home or migration over a spontaneous coffee or during a drawing experiment. You are cordially invited to use the illustrated pop-up store as a meeting point: Coffee machine and sketch pads are available.
